Using the work of Ken Chau, I will be collaborating with several animators on a series of animated poems exploring Chinese culture and Australian identity.
The first iteration was called, Wonder of You, and was presented as part of One Night in Footscray 2019. Additional animation was provided by Derrick Duan. Christie animated “Chinese Love Poem” from Ken’s book, Possible lyrics for Chinese and Western pop songs. The animation was presented with excerpts of my mother’s song book where she recorded the lyrics to her favourite pop songs in the 1950s – 70s. The public were invited to contribute their own favourite love song and the full list has been made into a Spotify playlist:

The work will be further developed in 2020 into a larger exhibition.
